The mixed vocal choir Čerchovan has been working in Domažlice since it was founded in 1901. Nowadays
it consists of approximately 60 amateur singers. Marek Vorlíček has been its choirmaster since 1997.
The choir is concerned mainly with sacred music. However, it does not avoid opera, musical, medieval
music or gospel music either. As a matter of course, folk songs are part of the repertoire, namely
those of Domažlice region.
When introducing vocal – intrumental works the choir cooperates with various orchestras
and professional soloists. In 2002 the choir performed with the Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra.
Čerchovan is regularly invited to sing in Germany. It has also had concerts in France and Netherlands
for several times.
In 2001 the choir recorded a CD of the works Stabat Mater by Jan Jakub Ryba and Requiem in c minor
by Georg Lickl. Both works were recorded as world´s premieres.
